An arch enemy or rival in popular culture, such as in comic books and films, is seen to be the hero’s nemesis. However, in Greek mythologies Nemesis is a far more complex character; for she is an enforcer of justice and goddess of retribution, but companion to Tyche rather than enemy. Nemesis has the power to take away fortunes that the Goddess Tyche awards, (more commonly known as Goddess of Fortune or Lady Luck). The double-ended doll I have designed features Lady Luck at one end and Nemesis at the other, companions and rivals in one.
